NEW BOOKS ARE HERE!

NEW BOOKS!!! Attention everyone! The library has new books for leisure reading.

Libraries everywhere have relied on McNaughton to put together collections of the most popular hardcover books out at the moment, including some best sellers of fiction and nonfiction. With 200 books in total, there is at least one book that will appeal to everyone. There are books about politics, war, tragedy, and even love. We also have biographies from some of our favorite celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Barack Obama, and the late Michael Jackson.

Of all the books in the collection, one book in particular caught my eye, “Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe” by J. Randy Taraborrelli. Her story was always fascinating to me. A few other books that I would be interested in reading include, “William and Kate: The Love Story”, “Psychic: My Life”, and “Cleopatra: A Life”.

The McNaughton Collection can be found near the stairs leading to the second floor of the main library. Every month up to 20 new books will be added to the shelves. So if there isn’t anything that catches your attention now, revisit the shelves next month for more interesting titles.

March is Women's History Month

The month of March has been declared Women’s History Month. The 2012 National Women’s History Month theme is "Women’s Education – Women’s Empowerment" according to the National Women's History Project (NWHP) website. The NWHP is known nationally as the only clearinghouse providing information and training in multicultural women’s history for educators, community organizations, and parents-for anyone wanting to expand their understanding of women contributions to U. S. history.

In honor of women throughout the world,
America's News by Newsbank
is featuring coverage of contemporary and historic issues, and newsmaking events in the life of women.

The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum have joined in paying tribute to the generations of women whose commitment to nature and the planet have proved invaluable to society. The Women's History Month website provides links to exhibits & collections, images, audio, video, and resources for teachers.

Be sure to test your knowledge and see if you can identify women of great vision and achievement.

Happy Women's History Month!
