#CSULibReno: May is for Moving

There is so much going on in May as renovations begin!  You are going to see a lot of construction on the First Floor as contractors work to complete the disruptive work before everyone returns for Fall 2019.

Here is the break down of what is happening over the next few weeks.

  • Front Computer Lab
    • UITS, electricians, and movers have moved the front computer lab to start work on renovations that include cutting new windows and creating a new study area at the front of the library.
    • All computers, scanners, and printers are now in the Back Lab in front of the Help Desk.

  • Library Entrance
    • Construction will begin on the Circulation and Reference desks soon.  All services will remain the same and the only difference you will see here is a possible location change as both desks shift back to allow for construction on the entrance.
  • Reference Books
    • The reference books and shelving have moved to make way for a new study area.
  • Second Floor
    • Books and shelving have been moved from the Second Floor as construction is set to begin on the CSU Advise and Tutoring offices.

Please stay tuned to our blog, #csulibreno Guide, and social media for all the latest updates.

Library Closures

Because of the Library's renovation, the Schwob Memorial Library will be closed on May 15th through May 17th.

Students will have access to the RiverPark Music Library in the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts and the Dillingham Computer Lab and Help Desk throughout the week.

We apologize for the disruption in our services and the noise that will ensue during the following months.

Introducing AVON - CSU's New Film Database

CSU Libraries is happy to announce that its new film database, AVON (Academic Films Online), is now available.

AVON includes scholarly video material of virtually every video type: documentaries, interviews, performances, news programs and newsreels, field recordings, commercials, demonstrations, original and raw footage including tens of thousands of exclusive tiles.  There are thousands of award-winning films, Academy, Emmy, and Peabody winners along with the most frequently used films for classroom instruction, plus newly released films and previously unavailable archival material.

AVON is accessible online through the GALILEO portal.  Once in GALILEO, select databases A-Z, pick "A," then scroll to the bottom of the list for AVON.  Alternatively, you can access AVON directly online at:   http://www.galileo.usg.edu/express?link=avoc-col1

The Kanopy film database is now mediated.  Only films that have been licensed during the last year are available.

To search for available films online, please visit AVON, Films on Demand and Medici.tv.  All of these resources are available in GALILEO.
