NetLibrary eBooks are Now on EBSCOhost!
CSU Libraries are happy to announce that our NetLibrary eBooks are now searchable via the EBSCOHost platform!
eBooks (at EBSCOhost), formerly known as NetLibrary, provides access to electronic books (eBooks), including reference books, scholarly monographs, publications of many university presses, and consumer books that have been converted into digital format. It is possible to perform full-text searches of a single eBook, search thousands of volumes simultaneously, browse topic categories, or read eBooks directly online.
One of the great benefits of this change is that now you can search across eBooks and other EBSCOhost content for integrated results. Other changes include the ability to browse by subject, genre, and language; use of an enhanced viewer for examining documents;
and the ability to view table of contents from the Result List and Detail Record.
You can access CSU's eBooks (at EBSCOhost) directly from GALILEO or in your results list using GIL, CSU's online catalog.
For more information about CSU's eBooks, please see our Electronic Resource Guides or Ask a Librarian.
Happy Reading!

In the news: the UN conference on climate change is held at Cancun, Mexico; anniversary events mark John Lennon's murder in 1980, while England and Australia battle for the Ashes: do you know your googly from your yorker?
Word of the Day: December's featured words include digital, de-stress, mistletoe, and hootananny. Sign up to Word of the Day or follow OED Online on Twitter.
Shapers of English: Robert McCrum considers P. G. Wodehouse's contribution to English.

New SciFinder Database Enhancements

We are pleased to announce new features to SciFinder that will improve productivity by accelerating research queries, providing easy access to lab preparations, and providing synthesis planning capabilities. The changes are in addition to recent upgrades we blogged about in November, you can read that post here.
In addition to presenting cleaner, more streamlined layouts, the new SciFinder features enable you to
• View experimental procedures in context with a reaction. You will be able to view experimental procedures from six American Chemical Society journals and patents from the USPTO, EPO, and WIPO, covering the period from 2005-2009. You will also be able to examine, sort, and analyze experimental procedures for applicability to their synthetic research needs and more efficiently determine lab preparations and plan synthetic pathways.
• Search structures using SMILES and InChI strings. You can now save time drawing structures by converting InChI (International Chemical Identifier) or SMILES (Simplified Molecular Input Line Entry Specification) text strings within the SciFinder drawing editor to generate graphic representations of specific substances.
• Sort search results by relevance. Reaction results can now be viewed from most to least relevant, bringing the most important information to your attention immediately.
Learn More about how to use these latest enhancements here: SciFinder (Fall 2010) (PDF)
If you haven’t used SciFinder before register here and start researching!
