Kimberly’s Bunny Gets a Wild Hair
Once upon a time, there was a sweet little bunny who visited
the Schwob Library. He was told
emphatically by his Kimberly to stay inside his warm backpack. When he saw the beautiful paintings by
Librarian Tom (Ganzevoort) and the cool lime green chairs, the temptation was
far too great. The curious little bunny
decided to experience the library for himself.
For almost 48 hours, the little bunny ran to and fro looking at all of the great things the library has to offer. He especially loved the Audubon magazine as he happens to be an avid bird watcher. He thought to himself that it would be fun to read “Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk” by David Sedaris in the McNaughton Collection. Little did he know that his Kimberly was terribly worried. She wrote letters to both friends and strangers telling them that her little bunny was lost. She posted flyers outside of the library which told the plight of her little friend.
When the little bunny became very, very hungry, he made his way to the vending area at the library’s entrance. It was there that a Cougar named Jane (she’s a CSU student) found the lost, hungry little bunny. That afternoon, Jane became a hero, Kimberly’s heart was mended, and the sweet little bunny went home with wonderful memories of his fun library adventure.

What Goes Great with an Einstein’s Bagel and Cup of Java?

Located on the first floor of the Main Campus Library, near the
elevators, the McNaughton Collection, over 200 titles strong, contains the
hottest releases by popular authors.
When you are away from campus, you may search the GIL-Find Catalog
to see which titles are available. By using the Advanced Search and selecting Location: McNaughton (1st floor), you can see all of the titles in CSU's collection: click here.One of the many great features of the GIL-Find Catalog is the ability to limit any search by topic. For example, a search for the McNaughton Collection shows the many topics which are currently available. Topics include: Rock musicians, actors, President Obama, singers, social life and customs.

Looking for Primary Sources for your Research Project?
If you are looking for an authoritative primary source for your research, have you ever considered using a Congressional Hearing? Congressional Hearings are available online through the GIL-Find catalog on a wealth of topics. Congress holds regular hearings to research topics of legislative interest, bringing in expert testimony that can serve as a valuable source for your next research project.
Researching cyberbullying? In a July 2010 hearing "Protecting Youths In An Online World", Congress received testimony on the topic from the Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection and the VP of The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Or how about child obesity? A March 2010 hearing "Childhood Obesity: Beginning the Dialogue On Reversing The Epidemic" featured testimony from the Surgeon General, the Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Obesity Leadership Workgroup, and the Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center to Prevent Childhood Obesity.
Most Congressional Hearings can be accessed through the GIL-Find catalog as PDFs. Look for the Y4 call numbers. Assistance with citing can be found on the Government Documents Subject Guide.

Announcing GIL-Find : A New Alternative to Searching the Catalog
The library would like to announce the new GIL-Find library catalog interface. Meant to compliment the Classic GIL, GIL-Find provides an alternative for searching for items within our library catalog. Both options will remain available to you. Please try searching in both to see the differences yourself.
Designed to be more intuitive for users trying discover resources, GIL-Find offers some really fun and unique tools to help you with your research. One of the major differences you will notice is that GIL-Find uses faceted searching. Faceted searching allows you to narrow your search according to location, format, topic, language, time period, etc. just by clicking! This is particularly useful when you're browsing or not exactly sure how to define your search parameters.
Here's an example of what the search results might look for a basic search on "cats". You can see that a wide variety of results will appear. If you decide you're mostly interested in reading fiction about cats, you may want to click on the "P-Language and Literature" link under the Call Number category. That will narrow your results to only fictional works about cats.
What else can it do? Text yourself a citation. Directly export an item into a citation manager (EndNote, Refworks). See an image of the cover of the work. Add tags to an item record. Add your own user review. Set up an RSS feed of searches. Get suggestions of similar items. Read or preview the book in Google Books. And more! There are so many options that we're excited about!
