More Renovations at CSU Libraries

We have been busy this week preparing to make some improvements in the Simon Schwob Memorial Library!

We are currently shifting the reference collection on the first floor to the back where the Information Commons is. This will give us more space in the front of the library to move the Information Commons across from the Circulation Department.

CSU Libraries appreciates your patience during this time of transition. Once the planned renovations are finished, we will be able to offer you improved services and facilities.

New to CSU Libraries: GIL-Find

CSU Libraries is proud to announce that GIL-Find is now available!

GIL-Find is an alternative interface to our GIL library catalog (which is now known as "GIL Classic").

GIL-Find includes the exact same information as GIL Classic, however, it is an "alternative view" that includes many Web 2.0 features, such as facets to narrow searches, tagging, and suggestions for similar items.

We encourage you to try GIL-Find. It is linked from the homepage of GIL Classic.

You can also find more information about GIL-Find online at: http://gil.usg.edu/html/aboutgilfind.html.

Please do not hesitate to contact CSU Libraries if you have any questions about GIL-Find. We hope to make some instructional videos available to help you get the most of what GIL-Find has to offer.

More Changes at CSU Libraries

There have been more changes at CSU Libraries! To make room for some upcoming improvements in the Schwob Library's layout and services, the periodicals section of the library is being temporarily moved to tables throughout the library.

The periodicals are being organized on these tables to ensure that CSU students, faculty and staff can easily access all of them until they are moved back onto the shelves.

A special thanks goes to the Technical Services Department of the Schwob Library who is moving the periodicals off of the shelves. This is very hard work and everyone at CSU Libraries is very appreciative of their dedication to our goal!

There are more changes to come. Please stay tuned!

Making Changes at CSU Libraries

You may be noticing some changes in the Simon Schwob Memorial Library right now.

The CSU Libraries have big plans for improving the layout and overall services at the Simon Schwob Memorial Library. Things may look in awry right now, but please be patient! Some really exciting surprises are on their way!

Today several of us temporarily moved the community computers in the Information Commons to make room for the one of the improvements. There is now a very large empty place in the middle of the Information Commons.

Please note that two community computers are accessible from the student computing area. The other community computers will be once again available after our renovations are complete.

Below are a few pictures of today's activities.

This is a very exciting time for CSU Libraries! Please stay tuned!
