Health Resources on Diseases

Science Librarian, Paul Luft, points out two resources that track diseases and keep you updated on health events such as the recent Ebola outbreak:

http://healthmap.org/en/

HealthMap website and mobile app lets users observe cases of disease located in their area and around the US in real-time. Each case is accompanied with details on the specific infection, and sometimes is connected to online news, reports, and other related material. Users can search by type of disease and receive e-mail alerts on any outbreaks.

http://www.cdc.gov/

The CDC (Center for Disease Control) provides day-by-day coverage on the the latest diseases and currently is monitoring the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Users can find out the treatment, diagnosis, prevention, etc. of many diseases as well as topics that cover healthy living and emergency preparedness.
