GEORGIA LIBRARY DAY 2012
What: Georgia Library Day, 2012
When: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.
Where: The Georgia State Capitol, Room 216, 206 Washington Street Southwest,
Atlanta, GA
Why: This is a wonderful opportunity to advocate for all types of Georgia libraries and library patrons, to fight the digital divide, and to be visible as officials are looking at budgets and proposals.
Sponsors: Georgia Library Association, Georgia Library Media Association, Georgia Public Library Service, Georgia Association for Instructional Technology, and EBSCO.
Georgia's Library Leaders will be available for a short briefing from 9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Refreshments and a variety of information sheets will be available along with "I Love My Library" stickers, and the 2012 Library Print of "The Little White House" (prints sponsored by Mumford Books).
Although this is a free event, please RSVP to ebagley@agnesscott.edu by Friday, February 10th. Please state •how many are attending; •library's name and affiliation.
Don’t forget to arrange appointments with your legislators or relevant state agencies in advance and bring something from your hometown which reflects industry or hospitality to share with your elected officials. Or bring a library trustee/friend/patron/student/veteran who can share a compelling library story.
If you can't join us in person, please call, write, or email your legislators by Valentine's Day and ask for their support. Your voice can help shape the future for Georgia's libraries!
