Study Abroad Photograph Exhibit Contest


Study Abroad Photograph Exhibit Contest


Be sure to stop by and take a look at the wonderful photography display courtesy of the CSU Study Abroad program and the Center for International Studies!  This exhibit is currently being displayed near the Government Documents section of the Simon Schwob Library. 


This exhibit highlights the talents and experiences of 2013 CSU Study Abroad participants, and showcases some of the locations CSU students visit during their Study Abroad experience.  Please enjoy viewing the photographs on display, and then cast your ballot for your favorite photograph in the ballot box provided.  The exhibit will be on display through September 27th, 2013.  The contest winner will be announced in October.  For more information, please contact  Kimberly Lawrence, CIE Study Abroad Coordinator.

Prince Among Slaves Film Showing

Based on a biography by Terry Alford, Prince Among Slaves chronicles Abdul-Rahman's true life African-Muslim-prince-turned-American-slave drama cycle with historic and scholastic commentary along the way.  The first showing will be this Thursday, 9/26, at 5:30 pm in the forum area of Schwob Memorial Library.  The event is a part of the NEH Bridging Cultures--Muslim Journeys grant received by CSU Libraries and will be hosted by Dr. Gary Sprayberry.  Refreshments provided.

Banned Book Week Read Out!

Banned Book Week Read-Out!


Banned Book Week is September 22nd - 28th and CSU Libraries is having a Read-Out as part of this celebration on the freedom to read.  Students, Alumni, Faculty, Staff and the Community are all welcome to bring their favorite challenged book to the Read-Out.  This event will be held in the Library Forum at the Simon Schwob Library, Main Campus and will be held from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm on Thursday, September 26th.  Light refreshments will be provided.

Constitution Day Lecture

Constitution Day Lecture


Dr. Wayne Summers will be coming to the library forum area on Thursday, September 19 from 12:15 pm to 1:30 pm to talk about the privacy rights we hold in America, especially in light of the current NSA scandal.  Many feel that privacy is a constitutional right, but Dr. Summers will talk about the misconceptions and the current state of privacy especially as relates to the internet.  Lunch will be provided.

New Smartphone Charging Stations!

Hey CSU Students!

Have no fear if you left your cell phone charger at home because the library is here to help!  CSU Libraries now have charging stations for popular smartphones including iphone android and blackberry devices.  So while you are typing your papers and studying for exams, bring your phones and charge them here at the library!  We just ask that you keep them on silent or vibrate as a courtesy to others.
