emailing the name of your book and the author to
jones_michelle@columbusstate.edu

Each reader will have 5-7 minutes to say a few words about his/her
favorite book and read from it.
Deadline for entering is Wednesday, April 9th at noon.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support.

The mission of the Columbus State University Libraries is to provide library and information resources, instruction and other services that promote and enrich intellectual and personal growth as well as scholarship. As part of the 2012 renovation, the Simon Schwob Memorial Library, located on CSU’s main campus, now offers flexible seating for up to 300 students. The new furnishings, along with portable whiteboards and wireless Internet, provide students with excellent opportunities for creative collaboration in a food-friendly environment.   

The CSU Music Library is located at the RiverCenter of the Performing Arts, 900 Broadway in Uptown Columbus.  It houses a collection of over 94,000 CDs and LPs in addition to 700 pieces of sheet music.

One of the events the CSU Libraries sponsored last week for National Library Week was the Favorite Children's Book Read-out. Thanks to the readers and to those who stopped by the veranda and shared the delicious lunch. Special thanks to our own Michelle Viers for sharing these great photos!

National Library Week 10-16, 2011

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and by local libraries across the country every year during the month of April.

The 2011 theme is “Create your own story @ your library..."

National Library Week not only pays tribute to libraries as centers of learning. It also gives thanks to local librarians for their knowledge and expertise during National Library Workers Day observed every year on Tuesday of National Library Week, this year held on April 12, 2011.

Favorite Children's Book Read-Out

During the celebration of National Library Week, CSU Libraries will host a Favorite Children's Book Read-Out. This event will be held on April 14 in the forum area of the main library from 12:30-1:30 p.m. We invite you to sign up to read from your favorite children's book by emailing jones_michelle@colstate.edu the title of your book and the author no later than April 8 at 5 p.m.
