Celebrating National Library Week
First sponsored in 1958, National
Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library
Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to
celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to
promote library use and support.
The mission of the Columbus State University Libraries is to
provide library and information resources, instruction and other services that
promote and enrich intellectual and personal growth as well as scholarship. As
part of the 2012 renovation, the Simon Schwob Memorial Library, located on
CSU’s main campus, now offers flexible seating for up to 300 students. The new
furnishings, along with portable whiteboards and wireless Internet, provide
students with excellent opportunities for creative collaboration in a food-friendly
environment.
The CSU Music Library is located at the RiverCenter of the
Performing Arts, 900 Broadway in Uptown Columbus. It houses a collection of over 94,000 CDs and
LPs in addition to 700 pieces of sheet music.
