Galileo Access Off Campus Made Easy!

Having trouble trying to figure out how to access the Galileo databases when you're not on campus? Well do I have good news for you! To access Galileo while off campus simply visit the CSU Libraries homepage via the Columbus State University Website. Once there, click the “Galileo Databases” link listed under the Resources section. Once on the Galileo website you will be prompted to enter your login information as if you were logging into your Cougarview or Cougarnet. After logging in you will have full access to Galileo as if you were on campus! Happy researching!

CSU Libraries’ Suggested Poetry to Read for National Poetry Month

Since President Bill Clinton’s issued proclamation in 1996, April is annually celebrated as National Poetry Month. Each year, the Academy of American Poets and others around the country and global celebrate, encourage and increase awareness and appreciation of poetry.

The poetry celebration is one of the most awaited celebrations for literati, poets and bibliophiles. The Found Poetry Review invites and encourages poets to participate in their annual National Poetry Month project, PoMoSco. The project is an opportunity for poets, of any experience level or publication history, to earn more than 30 merit badges and all poetry, for PoMoSco, will be posted on a centralized site to encourage others to particularly focus their attention to poetry.

CSU libraries encourage students and patrons to participate and read various selections of poetry. For this year’s poetry month, CSU libraries suggests poets, writers, and all patrons to review and read as much poetry as possible to help spread the awareness and increase the appreciation for poetry.

Open Access Week, October 20th - 26th

This week highlights the benefits of Open Access as the new standard of publication in scholarship and research.

Open Access is a publishing model that allows for literature to be accessed freely and without restrictions. Many journals and institutional repositories, like the CSU ePress, have adopted an Open Access policy in order to make research freely available to the public. 

Benefits to Open Access:

• Increases dissemination of research

Looking for journal articles to use for your research? Journals A-to-Z presents online full-text articles available from Columbus State University. Users can search with keywords or under the subjects tab to narrow down their search to a journal that deals with certain subject matter.

Let's say you're thinking about writing something about pesticides, but aren't quite sure where to go from there. If you search for pesticides under Journals A-to-Z you can find journal titles that deal with different aspects of pesticides such as pesticide reform or pesticides in food. Browsing these journals and their articles can help shape ideas for your future research papers and projects.
