JOIN THE CSU LIBRARIES TO CELEBRATE
BANNED BOOKS WEEK
SEPTEMBER 27th - OCTOBER 3rd!
The CSU Libraries will celebrate the freedom to read during Banned Books Week, September 27th - October 3rd. Come join us by participating in our Banned Books Readout Event to be held October 1st from 11:45am-1:30pm (light lunch will be served). Also consider becoming a contestant in our Virtual Banned Book Read-Out Contest. Winners from the video contest will be announced October 1st during the Banned Books Readout event.
1. Choose a passage from a banned book you like.
2. Introduce your selection by telling us (the audience) the title,
why you chose it, when and where it was challenged to be banned.
3. Share your selection by providing pertinent background (scene set-up).
4. Each participant will have 5 minutes to read.
5. FIRST 10 TO SIGN UP WILL BE ABLE TO READ THEIR
SELECTION SO SIGN UP TODAY!!!!!!
Students are strongly encouraged to participate and register
6. DO NOT FORGET TO REGISTER ONLINE (ONLY)
#2 CONTEST - Banned Books Virtual Read-Out Contest - If you enjoy making videos, why not share a video reading of your favorite banned book for a chance to win a prize! The best 2 videos will be chosen and added to the CSU Libraries Facebook page for entire semester. Be creative with your ideas but you must:
1. State your name in the video and why you chose the book.
2. Introduce your selection, (author, title, when, where and why it
was banned)
3. Videos should be no longer than 4 minutes - mp4 format
is recommended.
3. Video submissions should be emailed to Michelle Jones
(jones_michelle@columbusstate.edu)
no later than September 30th @ Noon.
4. The 2 best videos will be uploaded onto the CSU Libraries
Facebook page during Banned Books Week.
5. DO NOT FORGET TO REGISTER ONLINE OR STOP BY
THE LIBRARY TO SIGN UP!
